Family, Friends and Fog Photography

With only a few weeks now until Joshua and I head out on Xinjiang Investigative Expedition its always nice to some spend quality time with my family and friends.

With constant travel throughout the year when I am home I really try and make the most of my time with family and friends.  And what better time to catchup with friends and family than Easter.

During this Easter long weekend, the family and I spent a weekend with friends in Bonnie Doon, sharing good food, a few drinks, many a good story and a place by the fire.

Even though it was a family weekend, I couldn’t help myself but to shoot off early in the morning for a quick shoot to a favourite location of mine.  Mind you my two darling daughters, miss 7.5, and little miss 3.5 did come along for the shoot albeit they chose to stay in the nice warm car and watch a movie whilst I photographed from near by.

I must admit I love fog photography. Fog provides the feeling of depth and starkness to what in a clear midday sun might otherwise might have been a very cluttered busy shot.

With the coming of autumn, the fog has arrived which is perfect for image making in Lake Eildon which now has a slightly lower water level after summer leaving the normally submerged gums showing their skeletal branches rising from water.

As with any high contrast scenes you just need to ensure you Expose To The Right (ETTR).

I wish you and your families  a Happy Easter and I hope that you all got to spend some quality time with your family and friends (and a possible side trip to shoot off a few frames)
